Hundreds of keen volunteers from several Celebration Churches and Celebration Health held a successful outreach into the community of Chinhoyi from March 25-27.The outreach was planned like a military invasion and impacted the whole population of Chinhoyi in one way or other. It started on the Thursday with a Business Seminar at the Orange Grove Hotel where Kingdom business principles were convincingly shared to a key group of Chinhoyi’s entrepreneurs.
Celebration Health followed this with a three day medical outreach, which gave free treatment to over 2500 needy people, who normally would not have had access to such skills and attention. A nurse aid at Chikonohono Clinic, one of the medical centres used, said afterward, “Celebration Health has done such a good thing for the community and we all are grateful” A street vendor patient, Alifa Pauda, commented, “God has done a wonderful thing for us, this is a miracle because I had no money to pay for my treatment, but today I saw a doctor and received medication!! I just want to worship God and live for Him now”.
The word spread across the town and set the scene for Celebration Choir concert on the Friday evening at the soccer Stadium. Hundreds who were familiar to “Tambira” and other Celebration hits on TV, Radio and DVD enthusiastically attended the concert featuring the combined choirs of Borrowdale, Braeside and Westgate and many more Celebration assemblies.
The momentum of the previous two days had set the platform for the street to street evangelistic outreach on the Saturday. Each Celebration Family of churches (F.O.C) assembly was assigned a suburb and went house to house inviting people to the Saturday evening rally at the Stadium where they found a warm reception, some even getting saved in their homes.
It was not a surprise on the Saturday evening to see the Stadium packed with thousands of people joining in the worship and being hungry for the word. Pastor Tom preached a short but clear message on salvation and then prayed for the sick. Hundreds came forward committing themselves to Christ and several people claimed instant healing. A new church, born virtually overnight, was launched on the Sunday morning with 400 local people attending the inaugural meeting of Celebration Church, Chinhoyi.
