Building Communities
1990s
We started clothing and food drives, built
the first shelter at Ivordale Orphanage,
and began working with resettled
populations like those in Mari Mari.
We expanded through church planting and
medical outreach teams, laying
foundations for long-term community
transformation.
We relaunched prison ministry, baptizing 2,000 inmates and training 30 in sustainable farming methods. We performed our first cleft lip repairs and cataract surgeries and also launched Soccer for Souls as an evangelism initiative, using sport to share hope.
A Response to Crisis
1980s
Founded in 1984 during Zimbabwe's economic hardships and the Mozambican refugee crisis, Compassion Ministries (now Celebrate Impact) provided food, clothing, and shelter, reaching over 144,000 refugees and caring for orphans and vulnerable street populations.
As Zimbabwe faced hyperrinflaction
(500 billion%), shortages, and a
cholera epidemic that killed 98,000
people, we launched Operation
Outstretched Hand to combat
cholera. Champions for Life was
founded to support children with
HIV/AIDS.
Under the banner of Celebrate Impact,
we continue to develop and maintain our
impact in humanitarian work, community
development, micro-finance, medical
outreach, and family-based care.
